MIXED WEDANG RONDE WITH BROWN SUGAR SAUCE RECIPE – Wedang Ronde refers to hot ginger water (in Javanese, wedang refers to hot water) served together with ronde (ronde is tangyuan which has mixed with local culture). Wedang ronde can also be served together with brown sugar sauce, fried peanut, chopped bread, dates palm, etc. It is very common with Indonesian and many people think that its origin comes from Indonesia.

White Ronde Ingredients

  • 200 g rice flour
  • 1.6 kg glutinous rice flour
  • Water

Green Ronde Ingredients

  • 200 g rice flour
  • 1.6 kg glutinous rice flour
  • Water
  • Suji leaf water

Red Ronde Ingredients

  • 200 g rice flour
  • 1.6 kg glutinous rice flour
  • Water
  • Red food dye

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 kg Tuban peanut
  • 5 tbsp. brown sugar, finely sliced
  • 5 tbsp. sugar
  • Water

Ronde Water Ingredients

  • 15 l water
  • 1.5 kg red ginger, grated
  • 3 sticks lemon grass
  • 3 sticks cinnamon
  • 5 pieces pandan leaf

Brown Sugar Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 kg palm sugar
  • 1.5 sugar
  • 3 l water
  • Salt

Steps

  1. Filling: Cleanse the Tuban peanut, roast until slightly brown then roughly pound. Add the brown sugar and sugar, stir. Add water, knead until it can be round it off, set aside.
  2. Ronde: Mix each mixture until dull. Take a small piece of the mixture of every color, fill with the filling. Round it off as jackstone. Round the rest of the mixture off as marble. Store each ronde mixture in different container.
  3. Ronde water: Mix all the ingredients in a big bowl the stir. Cook until boiled, remove from the heat and strain.
  4. Brown sugar sauce: Mix all the ingredients, cook until boiled and the brown sugar melted. Remove from the heat and strain.
  5. Boil the ronde together with ronde water for about 3 minutes until cooked and floated, remove from the heat. Put it into serving bowl, add the brown sugar sauce.
  6. Mixed Wedang Ronde with Brown Sugar Sauce is now ready to be served.
