With easy to find ingredients, you can make it at home and serve it to your family. It will be a good choice to serve in the hot day and in Ramadan for your Iftar. Doughy Rice-Flour Droplets Ingredients

  • 50 g tapioca starch
  • 100 g rice flour
  • 100 ml suji leaf essence
  • 200 ml water

Chutney Ingredients

  • 200 ml coconut milk, cooked
  • 2 piece of pandan leaf, knotted
  • ½ tsp. salt

Sugar Syrup Ingredients

  • 150 g brown sugar, finely chopped
  • 100 ml water
  • 500 g shaved ice

Additional Ingredient

  • 100 g ripped jackfruit, diced


  1. Doughy Rice-flour Droplets: Mix rice flour together with tapioca starch, suji leaf essence, and water. Cook all together while being stirred until become thick mixture.
  2. Prepare a middle size serving bowl and then fill it with cold water, strain the mixture with doughy rice-flour droplets strainer. Let it fall into the bowl and let it stand for frozen.
  3. Boil coconut milk together with salt and pandan leaf until well boiled.
  4. Put and arrange sugar syrup together with doughy rice-flour droplets, diced jackfruit, coconut milk, and shaved ice. Serve it soon after you hear adzan.


Preparation time: 15 minutes, cooking time: 30 minutes, total time: 40 minutes.

For your information guys, strainer used here is similar to the coconut milk strainer made from aluminum, but it has bigger holes. If you don’t have it then you can use triangle bag by cutting its edge until it has 0.5 cm of diameter. You can put the mixture into it and mold it gently above a bowl filled with cold water. Do it carefully until all are used up.

  • 250 g cantaloupe, shaved
  • 250 g nata de coco
  • 100 g palm dates, thinly sliced
  • 100 g caster sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • 500 g shaved ice
  • 10 tbsp. cocopandan syrup


  1. Prepare a serving glass, then arrange cantaloupe together with nata de coco and palm dates.
  2. Cover with shaved ice and cocopandan syrup. Serve it soon.


Preparation time: 10 minutes, cooking time: 10 minutes, total time: 20 minutes.

  • 5 tbsp. red syrup
  • 5 tbsp. condensed milk
  • 500 g shaved ice


  1. Prepare a serving glass.
  2. Put and arrange black jelly together with diced avocado, diced jackfruit, young coconut, sliced palm dates, and seaweed in the glass. Then, pile the glass with shaved ice.
  3. Pour the red syrup and condensed milk to the top of shaved ice.
  4. Serve it soon.


Preparation time: 15 minutes, cooking time: 15 minutes, total time: 30 minutes.

For your information guys, the special thing of shanghai ice is the piling up of the shaved ice in the serving glass. In order not to make it melt soon, prepare the ice 30 minutes before Iftar time. Shave the ice 5 minutes before its serving time.
