BANANA PUDDING RECIPE – I didn’t see my cousin, Nanda, for more than one year after she moved to her hometown. And when I saw her for the first time at my grandma’s house, I was so happy. For me she is the finest sissy and we are best buddies. I can remember even all the crazy little things about her. One of them is her banana pudding. I love this dessert! After I grabbed hold of her, the whole time I kept my fingers crossed that I’d meet up with banana pudding at the dessert table. Lucky me, it was there—a nice bowl of yummy yellow pudding. Nothing fancy. Just darn good. I love you Nanda!

This homemade banana pudding recipe from my beautiful cousin is a family favorite and will quickly become a favorite with your family too. Check it out.

  • 8 large ripe sweet banana, clean and cut into pieces
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 50 grams flour
  • 30 grams cornstarch
  • 500 cc of milk
  • 4 egg yolks, whisked
  • 60 grams margarine, melt
  • 5 grams vanilli extract

  1. In a large saucepan, mix flour, cornstarch and sugar in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk eggs. Set aside.
  3. Cook milk until bubbly. Lift and let warm.
  4. Then take one big spoon of milk, pour into the egg whisk and then stir in the first mixture. Whisking constantly. After that, add the remaining milk, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in banana pieces, bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. Remove the heat.
  6. Add melted margarine and vanilli, stir
  7. Pour into a bowl or glass. Refrigerate 4 hours or more. (*Just before serving, you can crush wafers and sprinkle over top or add melted sugar, a piece of banana, or sweetened condensed chocolate milk on top)

Banana pudding has a soft and typical sweet flavor of bananas, that’s what I love from it. Best enjoyed cold, so it is perfect for a dessert when the sun shines so bright. Even though, it’s a dessert, but you can have it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Nanda’s secret banana pudding recipe, hopefully, can inspire all of you. Ciao.
