KARANG SATAY RECIPE – Sate Karang or Karang Satay is a typical menu from Kota Gede, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.


  • 250 grams beef, chopped
  • 10 skewers
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil

Smooth seasoning (Mashed)

  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Other seasoning

  • 1 slice of galangal
  • 1 bay leaf
  • water to taste


  1. Combine grounded seasoning with bay leaves, galangal, and water.
  2. Pour water, boil until beef tender and there is no water left.
  3. Pour oil, lift. Stir well, and then put beef in the skewers.
  4. Grill beef at the moment it is going to be served, because best served warm.
  5. Serve karang satay with rice cake.
