KUPING GAJAH COOKIES RECIPE – Do you know kuping gajah cookies? It is one of Indonesian traditional cookies with unique shape which has sweet, delicious, and crispy taste. If it is translated into English then it becomes “Elephant’s Ears Cookies”. It is thin, patterned, and its shape is somewhat elephant’s ears. This delicious kuping gajah cookies can be found in the traditional markets and pastry shop but nowadays it is seldom found whereas the ingredients are easily found in the store. But don’t worry guys, if you are interested to taste it, now we provide you with this special Indonesian traditional cookies here. Take a look at the following recipe of Kuping Gajah Cookies.


  • 225 g wheat flour
  • 25 g tapioca starch
  • 75 g powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. dried milk
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, freely mixed
  • ½ tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 75 ml warm coconut milk from ¼ coconut
  • 1 tbsp. chocolate paste


  1. Mix the wheat flour together with powdered sugar, salt, dried milk, and vanilla extract then stir.
  2. Add the mixed egg and vegetable oil, stir well.
  3. Pour the coconut milk a little by little while you have to knead the mixture until dull.
  4. Take ¼ part of the mixture, mix it with chocolate paste and stir. Let the rest of the mixture white.
  5. Mill both mixture with thickness of 1 mm. Spread the white mixture with water using a brush.
  6. Pile the chocolate mixture on to the white mixture.
  7. Roll the mixture while being pressed in order to make it solid. Wrap the mixture using plastic. Store in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  8. Take the mixture out of the refrigerator and thinly chopped the mixture.
  9. Fry the kuping gajah mixture in the deep vegetable oil at medium heat until slightly golden and crispy. Remove from the heat and drain.
  10. Store in the air-proof container and serve it.

Note: Make approximately 400 g.
