CHEESE SAUCE RECIPE – Cheese sauce is one type of sauce that much liked by people. A perfect companion to steak, boiled vegetables or fried fish. The possibilities are endless. But often the sauce is a bit oily and clotted. How to solve it? Check the recipe out.


  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 20 grams chopped onions
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 300 ml fresh milk, heated
  • 30 to 50 grams grated cheddar cheese (*I highly recommend using a sharp cheese)
  • pepper powder, thyme and basil powder and other spices

  1. To make it, first make a roux (an extravagant word for a butter and flour paste). Melt 1 tbsp butter in a frying pan. Add 20 grams chopped onions and stir until clear. Sprinkle 2 tbsp flour to taste and then stir until smoothly clod in texture.
  2. Pour 300 ml fresh milk, little by little while continue stirring over low heat until thickened and boiling. (*Stirring it in as a slow stream and don’t pour the milk in all at once). Lift or turn off the heat. Let stand a few minutes.
  3. Add 30 to 50 grams grated cheddar cheese or other types of soft cheeses, mix well. (*Do not add cheese while it’s still on fire. Too high temperature will make the sauce oily and lumpy).
  4. If you like, pepper powder, thyme and basil powder and/or other spices can be added. Stir well.

The first nicest ever homemade cheese sauce that my little sister successfully made. She was at cooking class and needed to present recipe related to choose and viola…. everyone tuned out that they enjoyed the cheese sauce. They could nor stopped eating it, yummy. The creamy sauce enhances the flavor of foods.
